so i am constantly impressed by what these boys do...checkout this "music video" in all its brilliance!
i've been listening to hips unite a lot for several months now...and im anxiously awaiting new material that clyde has been promising me! come on clyde! where is that new shit?? its a perfect combination of mingus, rudimentary peni, and constatine sankathi...yummy! and the vocals really get me with the incomprehensible nonsense (which i understand isn't necessarily nonsense). i mean...its like he's puking out the vocals...which could be offensive to think about but i thoroughly enjoy it!

ive been inspired creatively by a couple bands lately...what price, wonderland? being one of the main inspirations...and this song "being static" specifically. there has been a fire ignited in me with the knowledge that diy is well and alive and that there are creative people making independant and magical music. the loud/quiet dynamics evoke some gutteral emotion inside me...the tempo changes (which make me think again of that merel song "the guest") make me...teary eyed? yeah i cry when i listen to music...i cry when im moved by it. most of all though...the music by this band has played a major part in me feeling alive again and like i can take on the world. i don't know these boys but i love their music and it has made a profound positive impact on my productivity and my feelings of self worth. so this is a thank you...for the music...thank you

i wanted to reserve my first post for this blog to show and share my favorite song of all time. this song does so many things to my body...it's honestly difficult to describe. but i definitely have a visceral reaction to the music and the words that are presented on this track.
merel were a hardcore/emo band from new jersey who, for me, epitomize the emo sound and philosophy. this song is essential for me and is taken from the split 7" with iconoclast (who falls flat comparatively as far as i'm concerned). the spoken parts are taken from "the guest" by albert camus.
enjoy it if you havent heard it...and revel in it if you have...its a treat for virgin and non-virgin ears alike.
